Friend of Youth (1815-1888)
St. John Bosco, affectionately called Don Bosco, was born in Becchi, Italy. From an early age, he felt a deep calling to dedicate his life to the upliftment of disadvantaged youth, especially those who were poor, abandoned, or exploited during the Industrial Revolution.
Guiding youth through dialogue and understanding
Nurturing values and moral strength
Creating a family-like atmosphere of trust
His vision was not just to educate, but to form responsible citizens with life skills, ethics, and dignity of work. Declared Saint in 1934, Don Bosco is remembered globally as the "Father and Teacher of Youth".
A Global Network of Hope
The Don Bosco network spans across 134+ countries with over 15,000 schools and institutes. This global presence includes comprehensive education from primary to higher levels, vocational training centres, universities, and youth development programs. Nation Building Through Education & Skills
The Salesians began their mission in 1906 in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. Over the decades, Don Bosco institutions have become a pillar of skill education in India, complementing national missions like Skill India, Make in India, and Digital India.
Don Bosco India stands for inclusive growth, ensuring that no young person is left behind in accessing education or livelihood opportunities. The network provides employment-linked skill training for marginalized youth and offers holistic education blending academics, technical skills, and life skills.
